Electric heat pumps do NOTHING during a power cut so people freeze in the dark unless there’s backup power & heat as well.
Combined electric heat pump domestic/district electrolysis heat storage & hydrogen fuel cell offers 139% efficiency for backup power & heat and 285% efficiency for heating normally. 🏆
The 139% efficiency applies to the power used to recharge the hydrogen and heat store compared to the heat enjoyed when running down the hydrogen and heat store during a power cut or when the price of electricity surges (as it may do during periods of low wind and solar power generation) and then you can choose to use your backup power & heat rather than pay the premium price for electricity.
The 285% efficiency only applies to the power when driving the heat pump directly from the mains.
